Cuerda seca hand painting

The video above is a time-lapse of how we hand paint our cuerda seca tiles. These tiles and various designs will become available on our website soon. If you would like to purchase any in the meantime, please get in touch. It takes up to 10 weeks to produce batches, so please factor this into your requirements, as they are hand-made, it is not possible to get them any sooner as we only stock samples of these. Below is our art nouveau version. Cuerda seca in Spanish roughly translates as 'dry rope', whereby a fatty oil substance is used as an outline to stop the paint from running into the next section. Once fully painted, we kiln fire the tiles to complete the process. From start to finish it can take up to 24 hours for a tile to be completed. We are planning to try out some Portuguese style Azulejos hand painting in the near future and we will be sure to post a video on this.
